What is DSL?
DSL (Digital Subscriber line) is a technology that delivers high speed Internet over your existing phone line. The service lets you send Data and Voice at the same time over the same line. No need for a second computer line!

What is ADSL?
ADSL is the most common type of DSL offered. It provides downstream rates between 512k to 6Mbs (6000k). Upload speeds are around 256k. Dial-up modems achieve an average 30-36k connection speed.

Do I need special equipment?
You will need a ADSL modem, similar to a dialup modem. Southnet offers a full range of ADSL modems to choose from and upon your order will recommend a modem based on your computer profile. ADSL modems can be PCI, external, as well as USB.

Why do I have to qualify my phone line?
Because of the way DSL operates your phone line must meet certain conditions and be within a certain distance to ADSL headend equipment.

What are the advantages of DSL to my business?

How do I set DSL up for multiple computers?
Southnet's  standard business package gets 4 computers up and running on the Internet. If you need more computers on the Internet Southnet also offers networking services as well.

Do I need a firewall?
