We have currently had to change our mail server names due to the new Postini spam and virus filter and updating of hardware.  The old pop3 and smtp servers have changed to "pop3.sonet.net" for incoming and "smtp.sonet.net" for outgoing mail.  Below are detailed instructions on how to change these settings.

Instructions for changing your mail server names in Outlook and Outlook Express.

1. Open Outlook or Outlook Express

2. Select TOOLS then ACCOUNTS, the "Internet Accounts" windows will appear.
(note that on some versions of Outlook you will need to select TOOLS then SERVICES then select the account in question then select PROPERTIES. The window does not have the same appearance as the one below but the functions are similar once you reach the PROPERTIES area)

3. Select the MAIL tab.
4. Select the Account you need to modify (in most cases it should say mail.sonet.net).

5. Click on PROPERTIES.
6. The PROPERTIES windows will appear.
7. Select the
SERVERS
tab.

8. Modify the "Incoming mail (POP3)" field as shown – “pop3.sonet.net”.
9. In the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field enter as shown – “
smtp.sonet.net”.
10. DO NOT use "My server requires authentication".
11. Modify the "Account Name" so that it contains your Username without the “@sonet.net”
12. Once you have made the proper modifications click "
OK
" to save your changes. Once you reach the "Internet Accounts" window click close.
13. You should now be at the main Outlook Screen. We recommend you test your mail accounts to make sure they are working properly. This includes sending test mail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Instructions for changing mail server names in Eudora Light

1. Open the Eudora Light program.
2. Click on the TOOLS menu.

3. Then select OPTIONS.

4. Change the POP account to your "username@pop3.sonet.net"

5. The return address should have your email address such as "username@sonet.net".

6. Next click on the HOST category on the right.

7. Change your SMTP server to "smtp.sonet.net".

8. Hit OK at the bottom to save changes and exit the option menu.
